Nestled in the serene southwest corner of Indiana on the banks of the Wabash, New Harmony is a small-town community with a rich and fascinating history. Founded in 1814 by a German communal society, New Harmony has always been a place where people understand the meaning of "quality of life". Today the town is known for its historic sites, artistic and spiritual centers, architecture, and antique shopping. Blending the best of the old and the new, New Harmony offers a unique experience.
New Harmony offers many architectural gems, from 19th-century log cabins to the stunning Atheneum designed by world-renowned architect Richard Meier. Replicas of the original Harmonist cabins are available for view, including a rare “double cabin” that is the pioneer version of the duplex! Sturdy houses built during the Owen period also have been restored. The Victorian era saw the creation of many beautiful homes and the charming downtown. A more recent addition is the innovative and lovely Roofless Church. Well-kept homes and immaculate streets make living in New Harmony a delight.
